Funding Advice For Home Care

 

What sort of care do I need?’, ‘Am I eligible for funding?’ and ‘How will I manage my budgets?’ are frequently asked questions.
With years of experience, thorough assessment processes and as the only homecare provider in Chester to be registered to manage ‘personal budgets’, we will help guide you through each stage of obtaining the right care and funding for you.
From linking you up with your local authority right through to managing your awarded budget for you, we will break down the barriers and ensure that you get all of the help that you need.

 

What Next?

The first thing to do is to get in touch with Social Services office to ask for a care evaluation. To get in touch with your local Social Services go to Directgov.
A Care Assesment is an evaluation of the needs of the individual you are looking after. This can be wanted by either you or the individual you care for.
In a care evaluation, Social Services evaluate a range of information about the circumstances of the individual you are looking after and their need for care.
After the evaluation, they will explain what is available, what it can offer and for how long. Social Services will then carry out a financial evaluation to decide whether the individual you are looking after can afford to fund the cost of the service.
Social Services will then organize the help for you, or the individual you are looking after may choose to receive Direct Payments or a Personal Budget in order to purchase their own care.

 

Managed Accounts…

Have you been awarded a personal budget but don’t know where to start? Starcare is the only homecare company in Chester that is able to manage ‘personal budgets’ through the Local Authority. We are assessed by Social Services who allocate (means tested) funding according to each individuals care needs.

Putting it simply…

    • We will help you work out your budget and requirements for paid care and support.
    • You open a designated bank account, solely for the funds that you have been allocated.
    • We then manage the account for you, giving you a monthly statement to show the activity on the account.
    • For example… if you have an hour’s care a day with someone coming to help you get dressed and you reach a point where you feel comfortable doing it by yourself, you can then use that care budget to have help to go shopping instead.

All staff are required to provide a full career history, details where at least 2 written references can be requested/provided, Completion of a Satisfactory CRB, verification of identification.
